On World No Tobacco Day, 250+ Auto Rickshaw drivers took part in free Health Check camp organized by Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital

Marking the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital, Maharashtra’s first Joint Commission International (JCI), USA and NABH accredited Hospital organized free health check up for the Auto Rickshaw drivers of Pimpri Chinchwad. More than 250 Auto Rickshaw drivers and their family members actively took part in the health checkup which included Blood Sugar test, BMI and BP screening, oral cancer detection and eye checkup followed by awareness session with Dr Jayant Gawande, Medical Oncologist and Dr Yogesh Agarwal, Pulmonologist on topics likes smoking sedation and general cancer awareness. Aditya Birla Hospital also provided Free PAP Smear and Mammography to the female members of the ARDA members’ family.

Along with this, Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital also organized free Oral Cancer detection camp for the general public at Abmedkar Chowk, Pimpri.

“Cancer is one of 10 leading causes of death in India and around 40% cases are due to tobacco consumption. Tobacco use is a leading cause of cancer and other non-communicable disease (Heart attacks, coronary artery disease, paralytic attack & COPD). Tobacco is responsible for 40% cancers & 30 % heart attacks.” said Ms. Rekha Dubey CEO Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital. “Through our campaign we aim to increase the awareness on the link between tobacco and heart diseases, and on the feasible measures that can be adopted by the public to reduce heart health risks imposed by tobacco”, she further added
