Kinder+Sport presents the Fair Play trophy at International Schools Badminton tournament 2018 edition Belgium won the Fair Play award

Pune, April 24, 2018: The International School Sport Federation’s World Schools Championship badminton tournament held at the Balewadi Stadium, Pune between 20th April to 24th April, 2018 witnessed some close encounters and skillful shuttle play. The action on these courts was no less compared to that of what we witnessed in the Commonwealth Games 2018 earlier this month.

The display of highest level sportsmanship on-court by the players of Belgium earned them the title of the Kinder+Sport Fair Play trophy at this year’s edition of ISF World Schools Championship badminton tournament.

The tournament witnessed participation of 15 countries with 300 boys and girls representing nations. A total number of 690 matches were played across number of categories during a span of 5 days. It was a delightful display

The closing ceremony witnessed emotions of joy, fun and true sportsmanship amongst the participants along with dignitaries, Mr. Nobert Kever, Sports Director, ISF, Mr. Inder Chopra, Secretary General, Ferrero India and Mr. Gaurav Dixit, Director, SGFI.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Inder Chopra, Secretary General, Ferrero India said, “We are delighted to present the Kinder+Sport Fair Play trophy to Belgium for their sheer sportsmanship, talent and determination to win in right spirits at a global stage. Kinder+Sport shares similar values that ISF believes in, such as, education through sport, healthy lifestyle and gender equality.

Mr. Chopra added, “It is our endeavor to encourage young talent in the field of sports. The Kinder+Sport CSR initiative aims to bring the ‘Joy of Moving’ amongst the young badminton players. We would like to thank all dignitaries, participants and the support staff who made this event a huge success.

Mr. Gaurav Dixit, Director School Games Federation of India expressed his thoughts, “School Games Federation of India hosted the World School Championship of Badminton here in Pune, India. After successful commencement of KHELO INDIA- SCHOOL GAMES, we went International, hosting many international events this year. It is the first time that, India hosted the Badminton World School championship. It was a great experience and a successful event.”
