Pune, February 9th, 2018: Coma Café, written and directed by Avi Vasu, was awarded the ‘Audience Choice Runner Up Best Feature Film’ at the South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF). This film featuring Satyadeep Misra, Mahesh Manjrekar and Aditi Vasudev made its North American premiere at recently held SAIFF in New York.

SAIFF was the second major festival to screen the film after its premiere at the Film market of the Festival de Cannes 2017. It also featured in the Indo German Filmweek 2017 in Berlin, Germany.

Coma Café is an out-of-the-box concept. It is a fantasy/drama that is a metaphor for real life with a deep message. The story revolves around taking control of your own destiny and being responsible for your actions. It is a story which emphasises on living rather than staying in a coma because life is worth coming back to. The protagonist ‘Vivaan’ is also initially compelled to wait for his fate just like the others.

Avinash Vasu, Filmmaker, has always believed in delivering content based on divergent thinking. He majored in film making at Flame University with a minor in psychology and has won the Gold Medal in filmmaking during his graduation. After being involved in setting up “Rubix Cube Media” and making more than 30 films under that banner, Avi moved to Mumbai in 2013 and set up his own production house ‘Erango Media’. He won the Mubi ‘Your Day at Cannes’, a 15 second video making contest in Cannes 2014.
