‘Mahakhadi Model’ should be implemented in the entire country – Giriraj Singh

Pune, 7 February 2018 : Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Giriraj Singh recently visited the Mahakhadi Shoppie in Shivajinagar, Pune. He admired the creative step of Maharashtra State Khadi & Village Industries Board (MSKVIB) under the leadership of Chairman Vishal Chordia and expressed that Mahakhadi Model should be implemented in the entire country.

Vishal Chordia, chairman, MSKVIB, Anil Shirole, MP, Milind Kamble, Chairman, Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI), Ramesh Surung, Director, Handmade Paper Institute were present among the dignitaries.

Giriraj Singh said that the government is keen to promote Khadi in the country and eyes this option as a good medium for job creation. ”Maharashtra State Khadi & Village Industries Board has linked Khadi & Village Industry beautifully and has put forth a unique model. Other states can learn from it and work on a similar kind of a model,” He said.

Singh applauded MSKVIB’s recent initiative Khadi Ka Tiranga- marking the occaision of Republic Day. He also had a talk with Vishal Chordia about the ambitious project of Solar Charkha and the study to be done to implement the same.

Mahakhadi Shoppie in Pune was recently inaugurated by the Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis. Anil Shirole has played an important role in making the funds available for the project. The Shoppie presents various handmade articles produced by village artists. These articles are sold under the brand name Mahakhadi.
