Old Hand Grenade Safely Defused at Air Force Labor Camp in Pune

Lohgaon, 22nd April 2025: A major security threat was averted this afternoon after an old and rusty hand grenade was safely defused at the Air Force Labor Camp in Pune. The incident occurred around 12:30 pm, when Air Force Security Officer Lokender Singh reported the discovery of the explosive device on the camp ground.
Following the alert, a team from the Airport Police Station, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) of Pune police and the Air Force Police, promptly reached the spot. The area was immediately cordoned off as a precautionary measure.
The BDDS team conducted a thorough inspection of the grenade, secured it in a safe location, and later defused it by attaching controlled explosives.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav, ACP (Yerwada Division) Pranjali Sonawane, and Police Inspector (Crime) Ashalata Khapre. Key personnel involved included Police Sub-Inspector Rathod, Police Inspector Yele, members of the BDDS squad, and the Air Force Police.
Further investigation is underway to determine the origin of the grenade and how it ended up in the labor camp area.
