Pune: Car Theft Suspect Apprehended After Pursuit in Pimpri Chinchwad

Wakad, 22nd April 2025: Wakad Police Constables Imran Sayyad and Vikram Bhagat successfully apprehended a car theft suspect who forcibly took money from a driver at knifepoint and fled the scene early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 3:45 AM near Global Punjab Hotel in Wakad when the victim, Suresh Mahadev Jadhav, was stopped by two men on a motorcycle who threatened him with a knife and extorted Rs 3,100 from him.

Following the complaint at Wakad Police Station, the officers pursued the suspects and spotted them on Datt Mandir Road. Despite attempts to escape, the suspects were blocked near Kala Khadak, where Sayyad managed to catch Arbaaz alias Lala Irfan Sheikh (23) from Kondhwa Budruk, Pune, seizing the motorcycle and the knife.

The second suspect, Raju alias Satyam Virbahadur Singh (24) from Ghorpade Peth, was arrested within hours after initially fleeing under the cover of darkness.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey commended the officers for their swift action and presented them with awards in recognition of their dedication. Senior officials, including Deputy Commissioners Sandeep Doiphode and Vishal Gaikwad, Assistant Commissioner Sunil Kurade, and Senior Inspector Neeta Gaikwad, were present at the ceremony.
