Jain Community Protests in Pune Over Demolition of Temple in Vile Parle

Pune, 22 April 2025: The Mumbai Municipal Corporation took action by demolishing a Jain temple around 30 years old in the Vile Parle area of Mumbai. This incident sparked strong anger within the Jain community. In response, a protest was organized today by the Jain community at the Pune District Collector’s office.

Reacting to the incident, Dheeraj Ghate, head of the Pune BJP, voiced his solidarity with the community, affirming that their feelings were valid and deserved support. He also expressed concern over attempts by certain groups to stir discontent within society and stressed that all social issues should be resolved through discussion. He condemned any actions that provoke unrest.

Ghate further urged administrative bodies to be more sensitive to the emotions of all communities before undertaking any such operations. He further stated that the administration must take all necessary precautions to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future.

Reaffirming the party’s backing, Ghate stated that the BJP in Pune firmly stands by the Jain community in this matter.
