Pune, 21st April 2025: The Bhide Bridge in the Deccan Gymkhana area will be closed for vehicular traffic starting Monday, 21st April, due to ongoing Metro-related construction work. The closure will last for approximately 1.5 months to facilitate the construction of a pedestrian cable bridge by MahaMetro.

During this period, all vehicular movement through the Bhide Bridge will be restricted, and commuters are advised to use alternative routes. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende urged motorists to cooperate and follow the designated diversions to avoid congestion.

Vehicles heading towards Deccan Gymkhana via Bhide Bridge are advised to reroute through Tilak Chowk and Khandojibaba Chowk. Another alternate route for reaching Deccan Gymkhana is via Kakasaheb Gadgil Bridge. Motorists coming from Narayan Peth can take the Kelkar Road or the Maharshi Vitthal Ramji Shinde Bridge to reach their destination.

Vehicles that usually use the riverside road from Bhide Bridge to reach the Mehendale Garage area should instead take Tilak Chowk and Khandojibaba Chowk en route to Kothrud or Karvenagar.

The bridge near Poona Hospital will remain open exclusively for two-wheelers. Four-wheelers are strictly advised not to use this bridge. Additionally, vehicles heading from the Deccan PMPML bus stop toward Narayan Peth should also follow the diversion through Khandojibaba Chowk and Tilak Chowk.

The Traffic Department has appealed to the public for cooperation and compliance with the new arrangements to ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction period.
