Yerwada, 19th April 2025: In a case that raises serious questions about corruption in public offices, Yerwada Police have registered an FIR against two officials from the Land Records Office, Haveli, Pune, for allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹50 lakh and threatening a landowner with malicious intent.

The FIR (No. 277/2025) was filed on April 18 under Sections 308(2), 198, and 201 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, following a complaint by businessman Kunal Chandrashekhar Ashtekar, a resident of Shivajinagar.

According to the complaint, Ashtekar had legally paid government fees to get land at Survey Numbers 181/3, 181/4A, 181/6, and 181/9/1 in Hadapsar measured during 2023 and 2024 through the Land Records Office, Haveli. However, starting from June 2024, he alleges that Deputy Superintendent Amarsinh Ramchandra Patil and Surveyor Kiran Yetale demanded a bribe of ₹50 lakh to demarcate the land’s boundaries.

Ashtekar stated in his complaint that Yetale later offered to “settle” the matter for ₹25 lakh, but warned that non-payment would result in retaliation. He also claimed that Amarsinh Patil threatened to damage his property by using drones to conduct surveys under the guise of official procedures.

More concerning, the complaint alleges that Patil, despite being a government servant, knowingly created a false ‘C’ copy of the adjoining land records, intending to cause financial harm to Ashtekar by misrepresenting land boundaries.

No arrests have been made in the case so far. The investigation is being conducted by ACP Machhindra Khade of the Economic and Cyber Crimes Cell, Pune City Police.
