Pune Railway Division celebrates World Heritage Day 2025

Pune, 18th April 2025: Pune Division, Central Railway, celebrated World Heritage Day on 18th April 2025 with multiple activities aimed at spreading awareness about India’s rich rail heritage among staff and the general public.

On this occasion, the Mechanical (C&W) Department’s EnHM wing organized a heritage awareness rally from the Station Manager’s Office at Pune Railway Station to the historic narrow gauge steam locomotive “Anuradha” situated at the DRM Office, Pune. The rally was flagged off by the Station Superintendent, Pune, in the presence of officers and staff including Divisional Commercial Manager, Assistant Commercial Manager, ADEME (DEMU), Station Manager, CHI, CCI, SSE (EnHM), cleaning staff, technicians, and porters.

A Quiz Competition on Railway Heritage was also organized for cleaning staff of Pune Station, DRM Office, Tadiwala Road colony, and BTC trainees at GICC, Pune. Winners will be felicitated by DRM and ADRM in a special function.

In a parallel celebration, the Loco Operation Department organized a vibrant event at the Loco Operation Lobby in the presence of Divisional Railway Manager, Shri Rajesh Kumar Verma, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineers (Operations and C&W), DME (Operations), ADME (DEMU), ADME (Operations), and other officers.

The event featured a video presentation on Indian Railways’ journey from steam locomotives to Vande Bharat Express. A special highlight was the address by Shri R.K. Deniese, a retired Loco Pilot, who shared his inspiring story of transition from a steam engine driver to Mail/Express locomotive pilot. He, along with other retired Loco Pilots, was felicitated with special mementos in appreciation of their contributions.

This celebration reflected Pune Division’s commitment to preserving and promoting the legacy of Indian Railways, while fostering a sense of pride and awareness among staff about its historical evolution and contribution to national development.
