Pune: Prashant Aher, Micky Ghai Among Winners of Varunraj Bhide Journalism Awards 2025

Pune, 17th April 2025: The prestigious Varunraj Bhide Journalism Awards for 2025 have been announced, with Lokmat’s Special Correspondent Yadu Joshi set to receive the main Varunraj Bhide Award. Maharashtra Times’ special correspondent Prashant Aher will be honoured with the Promising Journalist Award. Other recipients include Loksatta’s Sangli Correspondent Digambar Shinde, who will receive the Rural Journalism Award, and ABP Majha’s Pune Correspondent Micky Ghai, who will be awarded the Electronic Media Award.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for 28th April and will be held under the chairmanship of Shirur MP Dr. Amol Kolhe, with veteran journalist Raju Parulekar presenting the awards. Organised by the Varunraj Bhide Mitra Mandal, the awards carry a cash prize of Rs 25,000 along with a memento for the main award, and Rs 10,000 plus a memento for the Promising Journalist Award. This year marks the 23rd edition of the awards.
The selection committee includes senior journalists Mukund Sangoram, Vijay Bawiskar, and Arun Mhetre, with veteran journalist Jayaram Desai acting as coordinator. In addition to honouring journalists, the event will also recognise top-performing students from the Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Journalism Department with special awards sponsored by the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan regional office.
