Mild Earthquake Jolts Himachal’s Sundernagar, No Damage Reported

Mandi, 13th April 2025: Mild tremors were felt in Sundernagar town of Mandi district around 9:15 am on Saturday, triggering panic among residents. People rushed out of their homes as the ground shook briefly.

According to preliminary information, the epicentre of the earthquake is estimated to be near Jaidevi, a nearby area in the district. The district administration confirmed the incident in a bulletin, stating that no loss of life or property has been reported so far.

Eyewitnesses said that as soon as the tremors were felt, people came out in the open and began shouting in fear. “It lasted just a few seconds, but we all felt it clearly,” said a local resident.

Sundernagar falls under seismic Zone 5, which is classified as a high-risk zone for earthquakes in North India. Authorities have warned that if the intensity of any future quake crosses magnitude 5, there could be significant damage.

The local administration is monitoring the situation, although normalcy has returned and no emergency response was deemed necessary.
