New Delhi, 6th April 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a profound spiritual moment on his return from Sri Lanka, expressing gratitude for having a “darshan” of the Ram Setu. This sacred moment coincided with the Surya Tilak ceremony in Ayodhya, which he described as a “divine coincidence.”
Modi posted a video of the aerial view on social media, stating, “On the way back from Sri Lanka a short while ago, was blessed to have a Darshan of the Ram Setu. And, as a divine coincidence, it happened at the same time as the Surya Tilak was taking place in Ayodhya. Blessed to have the Darshan of both. Prabhu Shri Ram is a uniting force for all of us. May His blessings always remain upon us”.
Modi’s visit followed his official trip to Sri Lanka and preceded the inauguration of the Pamban sea bridge in Rameswaram. The bridge is India’s first vertical-lift railway sea bridge, connecting Rameswaram island to the mainland. It features a 72.5-meter-long vertical lift span, allowing large vessels to pass underneath without disrupting train services. This infrastructure development highlights the government’s focus on enhancing connectivity and economic growth in the region.
The Prime Minister emphasized Lord Ram’s role as a unifying force for the nation. The Ram Setu, a chain of limestone shoals between India and Sri Lanka, is believed to be part of the bridge built by Lord Rama’s army in the Ramayana. Modi’s experience highlights the cultural and religious significance of Ram Setu for many Indians. His post resonated with the public, as it underscored the spiritual and cultural importance of both Ram Setu and the Surya Tilak ceremony.
In his post, Modi shared his feelings about the coincidence, reflecting on the spiritual and cultural importance of both Ram Setu and the Surya Tilak ceremony. His visit to Rameswaram included the inauguration of significant infrastructure projects, underscoring the region’s development and cultural heritage. The Prime Minister’s emphasis on cultural unity and infrastructure development aligns with his broader vision for India’s growth and integration.
The Ram Setu has been a subject of both scientific and religious interest. While some view it as a natural formation, others believe it holds historical significance as part of the Ramayana. Modi’s gesture of sharing his experience with the public has been seen as a way to connect with the spiritual sentiments of the nation. His message of unity and blessings from Lord Ram resonated deeply with many Indians, reinforcing the cultural and religious bonds that transcend geographical boundaries.
