New Delhi, 29th March 2025: A powerful earthquake hit Myanmar on Friday, causing widespread devastation. The quake, which had its epicenter near Mandalay, has left at least 694 people dead and hundreds more injured. The tremor also affected neighboring Thailand, where it caused a building under construction to collapse in Bangkok, killing six people and injuring several others. The impact of the earthquake has been severe, with rescue teams working to help those affected in both countries.

The earthquake, which measured 7.7 on the Richter scale, was followed by multiple aftershocks, including one as strong as 6.4. Myanmar’s military government has officially confirmed 694 deaths and 730 injuries, with the toll expected to rise as rescue operations continue. In response to the disaster, neighboring countries like India, China, and Russia have offered aid and support to help Myanmar in its recovery efforts. Emergency teams are working tirelessly to search for survivors and provide much-needed relief to those affected by the devastating quake.

In Myanmar, the government called for blood donations to support relief operations and pledged to accept foreign aid. China and Russia responded quickly, sending rescue teams to assist in the aftermath. The United Nations also allocated $5 million in emergency relief for the region.

Earthquake tremors were felt across several countries, including China, where buildings in Ruili city in Yunnan province were damaged. Tremors were also reported in Afghanistan, with a magnitude of 4.7 recorded, though no damage was reported there. Meanwhile, India sent 15 tonnes of relief supplies to Myanmar, with a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from the Indian Air Force carrying the materials from Hindon Air Force Station to assist in the relief efforts.

While the death toll is expected to rise, international aid and cooperation have played a crucial role in providing support to the affected regions. With countries like India, China, and Russia stepping in to offer help, and the United Nations contributing significant emergency relief funds, hope remains for those struggling to survive the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. The quick response from global communities highlights the importance of solidarity in times of crisis. As Myanmar and Thailand begin the long road to recovery, the world continues to stand united in the face of tragedy.
