Pune, 25th October 2024: The Maharashtra state government has approved the filing of criminal prosecution against doctors from Sassoon Hospital involved in altering blood samples in the high-profile Porsche car accident case.

Those facing prosecution include the former head of the hospital’s Forensic Department, Dr. Ajay Taware, Chief Medical Officer of the Emergency Room, Dr. Shreehari Halnor, and wardboy Atul Ghatakamble.

The Medical Education Department’s approval letter was submitted to Special Judge U.M. Mudholkar’s court by special public prosecutor Shishir Hire on Thursday, 24th October. This move clears the way for hearings against seven accused individuals, including the Agarwal couple and Sassoon Hospital doctors, for evidence tampering in the case.

The case stems from a tragic incident on the night of 18th May in Kalyani Nagar, where a minor driving a Porsche at high speed killed a young man and woman on a two-wheeler. Allegations emerged that the blood samples of the minor driver and his two friends were altered to destroy crucial evidence prior to their medical examination.

A nine-hundred-page charge sheet has been filed against builder Vishal Agarwal, Shivani Agarwal, Dr. Ajay Taware, Dr. Shreehari Halnor, Ashpak Makandar, and Amar Gaikwad, marking a significant step forward in the legal proceedings.
