Pune: Pet Dog Hanged to Death by Owner; Case Registered, Investigation Underway

Pune, 23rd October 2024: In a shocking incident, a pet dog was allegedly killed by its owner by hanging it in the Pirangut area of Mulshi. The case was registered by the Paud Police on Tuesday (22nd October), after a disturbing image of the incident circulated on social media.

According to Paud Police, the accused is a local farmer who claimed that the dog had become violent and uncontrollable. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the matter. Senior Police Inspector Santosh Giri Gosavi of Paud Police Station confirmed that the dog’s body will be sent for post-mortem at a veterinary hospital.

Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray (Uddhav Thackeray faction) expressed outrage over the incident, condemning the act on social media. He called for immediate action against those responsible after the image of the dog hanging from a tree sparked public anger.

This incident comes shortly after another case in Pune’s Parvati area, where a dog was shot after reportedly running over a person. A case has been registered in that instance as well, adding to the growing concern among animal rights activists. Dog lovers and activists have expressed their fury over the latest incident, demanding stricter actions to prevent such cruelty.
