Pune, 23rd October 2024: In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Mahayuti Government announced its first list of 99 candidates three days ago. Among the notable names, Chandrakant Patil from the Kothrud Assembly Constituency, Madhuri Misal from the Parvati Assembly Constituency, and Siddharth Shirole from the Shivajinagar Assembly Constituency have been given another opportunity to contest.

However, the absence of Sunil Kamble, representing the Pune Cantonment Board Assembly Constituency, and Bhimrao Tapkir from the Khadakwasla Assembly Constituency has stirred tension in their respective areas.

Meanwhile, candidates from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena, representing the Mahavikas Aghadi Government, have yet to be announced. Discussions regarding seat-sharing among Mahavikas Aghadi leaders are ongoing, and it is expected that their list of candidates will be released shortly.

In the interim, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray has revealed the party’s second list of assembly candidates. Among those nominated, City President Sainath Babar will contest from the Hadapsar Assembly Constituency, Kishore Shinde from Kothrud, and Mayuresh Wanjale, son of the late MNS MLA Ramesh Wanjale, will represent the Khadakwasla constituency.

Mayuresh Wanjale, the youngest among the three MNS candidates from Pune, brings fresh energy to the race. Meanwhile, Sainath Babar, who has served as a corporator from the Kondhwa area between 2017 and 2022, and whose wife held the same position from 2012 to 2017, will stand for the Hadapsar seat. Additionally, Adv. Kishore Shinde, a seasoned politician, has contested assembly elections from Kothrud three times in the past.
