Building Collapse in Bengaluru Claims Life of Worker, Traps 20 Others

Bengaluru, 22nd October 2024: A building under construction collapsed in Bengaluru on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the death of at least one worker and trapping 20 others beneath the rubble, according to police reports. While 14 individuals have been rescued, five remain unaccounted for.

Authorities believe that heavy rainfall may have contributed to the collapse of the six-storey structure located in Anjanadri Layout in north Bengaluru. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. while workers were inside the building.

The Fire and Emergency Services control room received an alert at 4:10 p.m. regarding the collapse. D. Devaraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), is overseeing the ongoing rescue efforts. Police have also reached out to the building’s owner for further investigation.
