Pune/Satara, 22nd October 2024: A woman from Pune was defrauded of ₹14 crore by individuals falsely promising to secure a government tender. Satara City Police have arrested seven people, including a woman named Kashmira Pawar, in connection with the case.

Pawar, who claimed to be a consultant for the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) of India, has allegedly defrauded several people in Pune and Satara out of large sums of money. A case had been registered against her at Satara City Police Station, and although she was previously arrested, she was released on bail.

Following her release, Pawar duped Pune resident Sushma Khamkar of approximately ₹14 crore by falsely claiming she could secure school uniform tenders in Maharashtra. Khamkar had been introduced to Pawar through Anil Waydande, who is now deceased. Despite Waydande’s death, Satara Police proceeded to arrest Kashmira Sandeep Pawar, Ganesh Haribhau Gaikwad, Yuvraj Jhalke, Radha Yuvraj Jhalke, Anita Jadhav, Dashrath Jadhav, and Amit Bharat Waydande.

The fraudulent activities spanned over three years, from November 2019 to December 2022, with a total fraud amounting to ₹14 crore 73 lakh 40 thousand 485. Pawar even provided Khamkar with a fake tender document worth ₹5 crore, which eventually raised suspicions. The delay in filing the complaint was due to internal family disputes, as Khamkar’s family struggled to cope with the financial loss. Upon Pawar’s latest arrest, she was remanded to police custody for five days. Police Inspector Sandeep Mhetre from Satara City Police Station is leading the investigation.
