Pune, 22nd October 2024: To manage the heavy rush during Diwali shopping in the central area, the Pune Traffic Police have banned four-wheelers in key sections of the city. The Traffic Branch has implemented special measures to ensure smooth traffic flow, and these changes will remain in effect until 5th November.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Amol Zende, highlighted that roads such as Lakshmi Road, Kumthekar Road, Mandai, Shanipar, and Tulshi Baug are witnessing large crowds during the festival season. Many shoppers are arriving in vehicles and parking haphazardly on narrow streets, making it difficult for pedestrians to walk. In light of this, traffic arrangements have been modified from Monday, 21st October, to address the situation.

– Appa Balwant Chowk to Hutatma Chowk (Budhwar Chowk): If necessary, traffic from this route may be restricted. Motorists are advised to use Bajirao Road for alternative access.

– Futka Buruj Chowk to Jogeshwari Temple: Traffic towards Jogeshwari Temple may be halted if needed.

– Shanipar Chowk and Kumthekar Road to Mandai: Traffic along this route will be closed.
