History-Sheeter Arrested With Pistol in Pune by City Police Crime Branch Unit 2

Pune, 21st October 2024: In a significant operation led by Crime Branch Unit 2, a history-sheeter identified as Sajjan Sunil Jadhav (19) was arrested with an illegal firearm on October 17, 2024. The arrest took place near the Canal area of Dias Plot, Gultekdi, Swargate, following an intelligence tip-off during routine patrolling by police constables Ujwal Mokashi and Shankar Kumbhar.

Upon receiving the tip, Police Inspector Pratap Mankar of Crime Branch Unit 2 quickly dispatched a team, led by API Amol Rasal, to act swiftly. Jadhav was apprehended around 6:00 PM and found in possession of a silver-colored iron pistol with a magazine and one live cartridge, valued at ₹50,400.

A case has been registered under Section 3(25) of the Indian Arms Act and Sections 37(1)(3) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act at Swargate Police Station. The accused, who hails from Dange Chowk, Pimpri, and is originally from Renushimora, Mahabaleshwar, Satara, has been remanded to police custody for further investigation.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1) Ganesh Ingle.

The dedicated team from Crime Branch Unit 2, including constables Shankar Newse, Ujwal Mokashi, Shankar Kumbhar, Nikhil Jadhav, Sadhna Tamhane, Pushpendra Chavan, Vinod Chavhan, Om Kumbhar, Hanumant Kamble, Ganesh Thorat, Vijay Pawar, Rahul Shinde, Amol Sarde, and Nagesh Raakh, played a key role in the arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
