Pune: Two Fergusson College Students Drown in Mulshi Barrage During Weekend Outing

Mulshi, 21st October 2024: Two students from Fergusson College, Pune, drowned in the Khamboli barrage in Mulshi taluka. The incident occurred between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, 20th October.

The victims have been identified as Raj Sambhaji Patil (22), a resident of Akurdi Railway Station, Pune, originally from Mhalsar, Shindkheda taluka in Dhule district, and Ojas Ananda Katapurkar (22), a resident of Sharayu Nagar, Pradhikaran, Nigdi.

According to the police, a group of nine students from Fergusson College had gone to the Khamboli area. While walking on the farm embankment, five of the students accidentally fell in a pit. Though three of them were rescued by their peers, Patil and Katapurkar could not be saved and drowned.

The fire brigade later recovered their bodies, which were sent to the government hospital in Paud for autopsies.
