Pune, 19th October 2024: As the Baner-Balewadi area continues to grow rapidly due to its proximity to the IT hub of Hinjewadi, the rising population and numerous housing projects have led to a significant increase in electricity demand. However, frequent power interruptions and fluctuations have been causing major inconveniences to residents, disrupting their daily lives.

For several months, the Balewadi Welfare Federation has been actively following up with officials from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) regarding these issues. Upon discovering that a long-planned 220 KV power substation for Baner-Balewadi, sanctioned by the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (Mahatransco), was delayed due to the lack of adequate land, the Federation took the initiative to resolve the matter. They engaged in multiple meetings and persistent follow-ups with MSEDCL, Mahatransco, the Collector’s office, and the Divisional Commissioner’s office.

With the support of Kothrud MLA and Cabinet Minister Chandrakant Patil, the Federation successfully secured the allocation of 0.65 hectares of land in Balewadi, Survey No. 4/1, for the proposed 220 KV power substation. The Collector’s office recently issued the official order for the land transfer.

Today, the Federation’s members met with Chandrakant Patil to express their gratitude for his assistance in securing the land for the substation. The key members involved in the effort included Ashok Nawal, Ramesh Rokade, Moreshwar Balwadkar, Ashish Kotamkar, and Adv. Mashalkar.

Federation Joint Secretary Moreshwar Balwadkar expressed confidence that the electricity problems in Baner-Balewadi would be resolved once the substation becomes operational.

The new substation is expected to provide much-needed relief to residents by stabilizing power supply in the rapidly growing area.
