Pune: Young Man Rescued from Mutha River in Late-Night Operation by Firefighters

Pune, 19th October 2024: In a swift and successful late-night operation, firefighters from Kasba Fire Station rescued a 27-year-old man who fell into the Mutha River near Shivaji Bridge in front of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) building. The incident occurred around 12:37 AM, when a distress call was received at the control room of the fire brigade.

Upon arrival at the scene, the rescue team identified the man, originally from Uttar Pradesh, struggling in the river’s strong current. The firefighters, utilizing ropes, life jackets, and life rings, swiftly brought the man to safety within five minutes. Lifeguard Raju Kachi played a crucial role in assisting the rescue.

The exact circumstances leading to Nishad’s fall into the river remain unclear.

The successful rescue operation involved a team led by driver Santosh Chaure and included firemen Harish Bundele, Raju Jagdale, Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad, Rajendra Mahadik, Atish Naiknaware, and Sunny Lokhande.
