Pune: Dairy Owner Dies in Bibvewadi Fire; Short Circuit Suspected

Bibvewadi, 18th October 2024: A fire broke out in a dairy in Sukhsagarnagar, Bibvewadi, leading to the death of its owner. The fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, according to the fire brigade. The victim has been identified as Ramdas Salunke (65), a resident of Yerawada.

Salunke, the owner of Kisan Dairy, had the habit of sleeping in the dairy after the delivery of milk carts every night. On Thursday night, around midnight, local residents noticed heavy smoke billowing from the dairy. Alarmed, they broke down the door and found the premises filled with smoke.

The fire brigade was immediately informed. Sunil Naiknavare, Chief of Katraj Fire Station, along with his team, rushed to the scene and managed to control the fire with water. Salunke, who had sustained severe burns, was quickly taken to the hospital. Doctors confirmed that he had passed away before receiving any treatment.

The Bibvewadi police also arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. A case of accidental death has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing.
