Camp, 18th October 2024: Two women from the Lashkar area have allegedly defrauded six individuals of ₹65.50 lakh by promising them commercial or residential land in a new building project in exchange for their investment in a construction business.

A complaint has been filed by Mehboob Abdul Gani Sheikh (68), a resident of Lashkar, at the Lashkar police station. The accused, identified as Farhanaz Sadiq Qureshi and Hina Sadiq Qureshi, both residents of Bhimpura, Lashkar, reportedly carried out the fraud between 8th April 2019 and February 2021.

According to the police, the complainant and his five relatives were convinced by the two accused to invest in the construction business with the promise of securing permanent commercial or residential plots in the new building. Together, the complainant and his relatives invested a total of ₹65.50 lakh.

However, the accused failed to provide the promised land. When the complainant and others demanded their money back, the accused issued cheques from various banks, all of which bounced due to insufficient funds. When the complainant attempted to confront Farhanaz Qureshi in person, it was discovered that she had changed her address and moved elsewhere. Upon realizing the fraud, the complainant lodged a formal complaint. Police Sub-Inspector Gujar is leading the ongoing investigation.
