Pune, 17th October 2024: Pune Police have announced strict regulations for candidates contesting the upcoming assembly elections, limiting them to using no more than 10 vehicles during campaign rounds. Additionally, a 200-meter distance and a 15-minute gap must be maintained between two convoys. These measures, outlined by Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, aim to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections, with the enforcement of the election code of conduct.

The Pune City Police Commissionerate oversees 11 assembly constituencies: Shirur, Purandar, Bhor, Vadgaon Sheri, Shivajinagar, Kothrud, Khadakwasla, Parvati, Hadapsar, Pune Cantonment, and Kasba. Sharma emphasized the strict enforcement of these guidelines, which will apply across all constituencies.

According to the new guidelines, candidates must provide details of any meetings, processions, and events to the Senior Police Inspector of the respective police station. All events must be organized only after receiving police permission.

The use of loudspeakers, a common part of election campaigning, will be closely monitored. As per the orders, no loudspeakers are allowed between 10 PM and 6 AM, in line with a Supreme Court directive. The restrictions will remain in place until midnight on November 25, and legal action will be taken against violators.

Key Restrictions and Guidelines for Candidates:
– Loudspeakers are prohibited near schools, colleges, and hospitals.
– Loudspeakers can only be used when campaign vehicles are stationary.
– A valid license is mandatory for using loudspeakers.
– Police station authorities will enforce the restrictions on loudspeaker use within specific time frames.

These measures are designed to maintain law and order, minimize disturbances, and ensure that the election process runs smoothly. Pune Police have assured the public that the code of conduct will be strictly enforced throughout the election period.
