Pune Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Four-Year-Old Daughter of Woman He Considered a Sister

Pune, 16th October 2024: A man who considered a woman to be like a sister has been arrested for sexually assaulting her four-year-old daughter. After the incident, he absconded, but the Pune Police successfully arrested him. He was on the run for two days before being arrested. The operation was conducted by the Anti-Dacoity Cell and Vehicle Theft Unit 1. The arrested individual has been identified as Vijay Swami Bamu, a 40-year-old resident of Ghorpadi.

Bamu was charged with sexually assaulting the daughter of a woman he regarded as a sister. A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act of 2012 (POCSO) has been registered at the Mundhwa Police Station. Following the incident, residents expressed their outrage over the assault. Police searched for him, but his whereabouts remained unknown.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Dacoity Cell and Vehicle Theft Unit 1 of the Crime Branch was patrolling the Mundhwa area. Police Constable Vikrant Saswadkar received information that Bamu was spotted near the railway flyover in Mundhwa area. The police managed to capture him by setting a trap.
