Pune, 12th October 2024: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was in Pune yesterday to inaugurate various projects related to the Pune Police and Pimpri Chinchwad Police. During the event, he issued a stern warning to police officials about withholding information. He clearly stated that if sensitive case information is kept hidden, the concerned official would be dismissed from their duties.

Fadnavis said, “Crimes against women, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) related cases, and drug-related crimes are on the rise in Maharashtra. It is imperative to take immediate action without suppressing these cases. If such matters are hidden, greater problems will arise in the future. Therefore, any police officer found involved in concealing information about these three types of crimes will be directly dismissed.”

In addition, Fadnavis addressed the need for improved efforts in arresting criminals involved in heinous crimes, referencing the recent Bopdev Ghat gang rape case, which has been challenging for police. He announced that AI technology would be integrated into CCTV systems, allowing cameras to detect criminals even if they alter their appearance. This technology will also benefit traffic management. Fadnavis added that advanced drone cameras will be used to monitor Ganesh Visarjan processions, political marches, and protests.
