Pune, 11th October 2024: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, stated at a public event in Pune that the new Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) Headquarters will surpass Pune in terms of modernity. He made this remark directly to Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar on stage. He also mentioned that the PCPC building might be the best police facility in India.

The PCPC was initially approved by then-Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 15th August 2018, along with the Mira Bhayandar Police Commissionerate. Initially, the PCPC began operations in a Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) school building in Chinchwad, with its headquarters in Nigdi. Although nine acres of land in Moshi had been allocated for the PCPC, the need for a permanent headquarters persisted. A proposal for 50 acres of centrally located land owned by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Development in Tathawade was made, which has now been approved by the Maharashtra State Government.

Fadnavis remarked, “The PCPC Headquarters will surpass Pune, Amitesh Ji. First, Nagpur had a very good police building, but the one being built in Pune will be even better, and Pimpri Chinchwad’s will be the best of all. The PCPC building might be the best in India in terms of police administration.” He also announced that the Bhumi Pujan (groundbreaking ceremony) for the new building would take place in the coming days.

Additionally, he mentioned the approval of the 50-acre land for the new PCPC building and highlighted significant changes in policing. He emphasized that for the first time since 1960, the police-to-population ratio is being revised, along with other reforms to modernize policing and technology.
