Pune, 11th October 2024: In a significant move, the State Government has announced that pregnant women police personnel and officers are now permitted to wear sarees while on duty. An official order in this regard was issued on Wednesday, 9th October.

To avail of this provision, women police personnel and officers must submit a medical certificate confirming their pregnancy. Following this, permission will be granted by the office of the Director General of Police (DGP) to wear a saree during their pregnancy.

This decision comes as a relief to pregnant and postpartum police officers, many of whom face challenges wearing a uniform and belt during and after pregnancy. There were also concerns that the tight clothing could cause discomfort or harm to the unborn baby.

The government’s decision aims to offer necessary comfort to these officers during this period.
