Kharadi, 11th October 2024: Residents of Lane Number 2, Vrindavan Society, Kharadi, have been facing severe water supply issues, with no water for the past four days. Citizens, already grappling with inadequate water pressure for five months, are now expressing their frustration, especially as the water shortage worsens during the festive season.

Around 15 to 20 households in the society have reported inconsistent and low-pressure water supply for months. Residents have repeatedly raised the issue with the ward office and the Water Supply Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), but no action has been taken so far.

Previously, the water supply was irregular and of low pressure, but for the last four days, it has stopped entirely. As a result, during the Navaratri festival, residents are being forced to buy water, with private suppliers hiking prices due to high demand.

Residents said, “We have requested PMC officials numerous times and contacted authorities and local political representatives, demanding a regular and adequate water supply. Still, nothing has been done. If the situation doesn’t improve soon, we will organize a protest march.”

Anwar Mulla, Junior Engineer from the Water Supply Department of PMC, explained that four days ago, repair work began on a water channel damaged during road construction. “This disruption affected the water supply in the area. We are taking the necessary steps to resolve the issue and restore adequate water supply to Vrindavan Society,” he added.
