Pune, 10th October 2024: Recently, in three cyber fraud cases promising returns in the share market, fraudsters have duped victims of a total of ₹90 lakh in Pune. Cases have been registered at the Kothrud and Hadapsar police stations under the Pune City Police Commissionerate.

In the first case, a man named Sunil Rajaram Tembe (63), a resident of Paud Road, complained to the Kothrud Police Station about being defrauded of ₹37.70 lakh between March 1 and May 4 of this year. He was added to a WhatsApp group called D-3 ICICI Security Official Stock, where the accused instructed him to install an app. After investing in the app, he initially received some small returns. However, when he trusted the fraudsters and invested a larger amount, he neither received his initial investment nor the promised returns.

In a similar case, Shirish Shivray Gosavi (65) also filed a complaint at the Kothrud Police Station. He received a call from an unknown number and was asked to install the MARWADI FINANCIAL SERVICES MSFL app. Numerous complaints regarding this app have been reported to the police. Gosavi was approached by the fraudsters and cheated out of ₹33.80 lakh with the promise of significant returns in a short period if he invested in share trading.

Similarly, Nilesh Eknath Kadam (41) complained to the Hadapsar police station, stating that he had been cheated out of ₹19.23 lakh after being lured into a share trading investment. A case has been registered against Kavita Aggarwal, a mobile user named Anoy Banerjee, various WhatsApp group members, the owners of the Elite Rodus app, and account holders at various banks. The accused deceived these individuals by convincing them to transfer money to their bank accounts, claiming that share trading would yield significant profits.
