New Delhi, 10th October 2024: Serious allegations have been leveled against Google for a long time regarding monopoly. In August this year, Federal Judge Amit Mehta gave a verdict against the company regarding Google’s monopoly in the search and advertising sector.

Now the Department of Justice has come into action regarding this and is engaged in finding solutions. A report by The Verge claims that the Justice Department wants Google to separate its businesses to reduce its monopoly.

Plaintiffs’ Proposed Remedy Framework, a committee formed by the US Justice Department, concerned about Google’s monopoly, has shared a 32-page report, which gives some suggestions to reduce Google’s current monopoly. It says that to reduce the company’s monopoly, its main businesses like Google Play, Android, or Chrome will have to be sold.

Google Search has also been discussed in the document. Google had made a deal worth billions of dollars with Apple for default search. By making Google search engine default on Apple devices, its market share increased significantly.

There are many cases going on against Google in the US and the European Union regarding monopoly. One of these is about user privacy and security, which is related to the user’s search engines and clicks in the search results. However, Google says that the search data by users on Google is very sensitive and personal, which is protected under Google’s strict security standards.
