Pune: Young Woman and Minor Accomplice Arrested for Theft Under Pretext of Begging; Cash, Gold Worth Rs 40.76 Lakh Seized

Pune, 9th October 2024: The Chandannagar Police have arrested a young woman who, under the pretext of begging, entered a house and stole gold ornaments and cash. A minor accomplice involved in the theft has also been detained. A total of ₹40.76 lakh has been recovered from them, including 52 tolas of gold ornaments worth ₹35 lakh, ₹26,000 in cash, and a two-wheeler valued at ₹5.5 lakh.

The accused has been identified as Milli Deepak Pawar (20), a resident of Adgaon Naka, Panchavati, Nashik. Milli and her juvenile accomplice found the door of a house open in the Chandannagar area on Nagar Road. The duo had been inspecting houses in the area under the guise of begging. Seizing the opportunity, they entered the house and carried out the theft. After the crime, they split up and fled.

Police constable Mahesh Nanekar from the investigation team received information that the young woman and her accomplice were spotted in the Alandi area. The police then set a trap and apprehended both suspects. During interrogation, they confessed to thefts in the Khadak and Chandannagar areas.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav, with Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan, Crime Branch Police Inspector Anil Mane, Assistant Inspector Siddhanath Khandekar, and team members Mahesh Nanekar, Sachin Randive, Shivaji Dhande, Prafulla More, Sachin Patil, Vikas Kadam, Amol Jadhav, Shekhar Shinde, Namdev Gadare, Suraj Jadhav, Srikant Kodre, Dnyanoba Lahane, Sheetal Wankhede, Pooja Dahale, and Manisha Pawar.
