Swargate, 8th October 2024: In Pune’s Maharshi Nagar area, a mentally unstable youth shocked residents today by locking himself inside a house, turning on a gas cylinder, and threatening to take his own life. In a fit of rage, he threw various items from the second floor, including a television and clothing. Fortunately, the Pune Fire Brigade and police responded quickly, saving the youth and averting a potential disaster.

Sources informed Punekar News that the 28-year-old youth, who is married, might be experiencing marital problems that contributed to his distressing behavior.

Around 11:40 AM, the Pune Fire Brigade received a call reporting that a mentally unstable youth had locked himself inside, was angry, throwing things, and had activated a cooking gas cylinder. When the fire brigade arrived at the building in the Swargate area of Maharshi Nagar, the youth was still throwing items out of the window and shouting that he would light the gas, which could have caused an explosion.

Acting quickly, the fire brigade first set up a safety net below the G+2 building. They then broke down the door, entered the house, turned off the stove, and removed the gas cylinder. When they attempted to communicate with him, he tried to run and lock himself in the bathroom. He also threatened the fire brigade officials, claiming he would light the gas and issued death threats. However, the fire brigade officials negotiated with him, ultimately rescuing him and handing him over to the Swargate Police Station for further action.

Fire Officer Subhash Jadhav, who oversaw the operation, stated, “The building was G+2. The youth seemed mentally unstable. We remained calm, communicated with him, and successfully rescued him. Two fire vehicles were deployed, and we handed him over to Pune Police, who will take further action.”
