Pune: Woman Duped of Rs 40 Lakh Over False Wine Shop License Promise in Talegaon Dabhade

Talegaon Dabhade, 7th October 2024: A woman was duped of Rs 40 lakhs in Pune’s Talegaon Dabhade with the false promise of receiving a wine shop license. The accused had promised her that a wine shop license from Chandrapur district would be transferred to her. In this regard, three people have been booked by Pimpri Chinchwad Police. The incident took place between 1st September 2019, and 6th October 2024 of this year in Talegaon Dabhade.

A 56-year-old woman, a resident of Maval Taluka, filed a complaint with the Talegaon Dabhade Police Station. A case has been registered against Vinayak Shankar Ramugade, Parag Shankar Ramugade, and a woman, under BNS Section 318(4) (cheating), Section 316(2) (criminal breach of trust), and Section 3(5) (acts done by several individuals in furtherance of common intention).

According to police reports, the accused told the complainant that they had contacts in the Ministry of Maharashtra Government. Under the pretext of transferring the wine shop license taken by people in Chandrapur district to the complainant’s name, they took Rs 40 lakh from her. They claimed that liquor was banned in Chandrapur district, which was why they were selling the license.

The accused then issued dishonoured checks to refund the amount without providing the license and also wrote a false registration receipt for a flat in Satara. A case has been registered for cheating by taking money for the license without providing it and without returning the amount. Talegaon Dabhade Police are investigating the matter, with Police Sub-Inspector Ware leading the investigation.
