Pune: Two Minors Among Four Caught For Robbing Naga Student At Baner Hill

Baner, 7th October 2024: A college student was brutally attacked on a hill along Pune’s Pashan-Sus Road under the threat of a koyta and was robbed. The robbers, who had initially escaped, have now been caught by Pune police. A two-wheeler and a koyta were confiscated from the robbers.

The 19-year-old student, who hails from Nagaland and resides in Old Sangvi, had filed a complaint with Chaturshringi Police Station. The police have arrested Ajinkya Ashok Bobade (age 18, resident of Navi Sangvi) and Nikhil Babasaheb Dongare (age 18, resident of Aundh).

According to police, on 28th September, he and his friend went to a hill on Pashan-Sus Road in the Baner area. At that time, Bobade, Dongare, along with two juveniles, threatened and robbed them of two mobile phones and cash worth Rs 20,000 before fleeing.

Police Constables Shrikant Sable and Sachin Birangal were patrolling the Baner area. On 28th September, the accused were seen leaving Pan Card Club Road on a two-wheeler. Sable and Birangal, who were on patrol at the time, spotted the accused and questioned them out of suspicion. The two suspects on the bike then sped away, but one was detained by the police. During interrogation, the accused confessed to robbing the victims in the Pashan Hill area. Based on information obtained during the investigation, the minors, along with Bobade and Dongare, were also detained. The police are conducting further investigations to determine if the accused has committed any other robberies.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Khadki Division) Anuja Deshmane.

The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Balkotgi and Police Inspector (Crime) Vijayanand Patil, included Assistant Police Inspector Narendra Patil, Police Sub-Inspector Praveen Chougule, and Police Constables Shrikant Waghwale, Babulal Tandale, Baba Dangade, Irfan Momin, and Shridhar Shirke.
