Pune: Loyola vs St. Vincent’s Showdown Set for Under-16 Final at Loyola Football Cup

Pune, 4th October 2024: Arch-rivals Loyola H.S and St. Vincent’s H.S set up yet another summit clash in the Loyola Football Cup 2024 powered by Tata Autocomp and organised by ELAN  (Ex Loyola Alumni Network) at the Loyola H.S ground, Pashan, here late Thursday.

In the Under-16 semifinals, both teams got the better of their opponents with ease.

In the first semifinal, Loyola H.S let their scoring late and overcame Vidya Bhavan H.S 2-1.

After conceding an early goal by Sushil Karwa (7′) which gave Vidya Bhavan H.S the lead it was not until the last ten minutes that Loyola H.S turned the game in their favour.

In a matter of four minutes, Parth Shinde (51′ and 54′) swung the game in Loyola H.S by completing a double-strike.

Later, in a high scoring game, St. Vincent’s H.S thrashed The Kalyani School 6-1.

St. Vincent’s H.S came out all guns blazing and were quick to go 4-0 up in the first-half. Goals by Nathen D’Souga (5′), Neel Sengupta (7′) Shounak Dhapte (10′) and Aaron Babin (22′) put St. Vincent’s H.S in the drivers seat during this period.

Changing ends, Shounak completed his ‘brace’ netting in the 51′ minute and Ethan Lobo (51′) completed the tally converting a penalty-kick  to account for the tally.

The Kalyani School pulled one back through Shaurya Anand (43′).

Both Loyola H.S and St. Vincent’s H.S entered their second final after having entered the Under-12 final on Thursday.
