Pune, 4th October 2024: Thousands of saplings are planted across India by the RMD Foundation every year. Massive plantation drives were carried out at Ranjangaon, Uplat Talasari, Wagholi and Daman, this year too.

RMD Foundation Vice-President Shobhatai R Dhariwal said, “Saplings are planted around schools, colleges, hospitals, public gardens, hills and ‘gairan’ (grazing grounds for cattle). Care is taken to water these plants and it is ensured that they survive. Henceforth, the ‘Ek Zaad Aaiche’ drive will be conducted every year with the participation of school and college students.”

Dhariwal was addressing students and staff at the Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya, Uruli Kanchan.

She appealed to every student to plant saplings, to adopt them and to ensure that they survive and grow. Over 2,700 saplings were distributed and planted on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.

Shobhatai Dhariwal said that students will be given certificates and rewards for taking care of saplings given to them. School Trustee Devidas Bhansali extended cooperation during the drive.

Principal Bhosale, teachers, staff and students were present in a large number.
