Pune, 2nd October 2024: From tomorrow, Navratri 2024 begins across the entire country. Just like the rest of the nation, the people of Pune celebrate these holy nine days with immense passion and devotion. During this time, many visit goddess temples in Pune, including Bhavani Mata Mandir, Tambdi Jogeshwari, Chaturshringi Mata, and more. Dandiya and Garba celebrations take place throughout the city. In response, the Pune City Police Commissionerate’s Traffic Branch, headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende, has announced traffic changes across the city.

The following areas will experience changes:

1) Appa Balwant Chowk
The road from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk will be closed to traffic, and traffic will be one-way from Budhwar Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk. The alternate route will be from Appa Balwant Chowk to Gadital Statue, then to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, and finally to the desired destination.

2) Bhavani Mata Mandir
Except for emergency vehicles, Mahatma Phule Road in front of Bhavani Mata Mandir, from Ramoshi Gate Chowk to Juna Motor Stand, will be closed to traffic, and no parking will be allowed. Parking should be done near Jawaharlal Nehru Road or other nearby streets.

The alternate route for vehicles travelling toward Bhavani Mata Mandir from Ramoshi Gate Chowk is to go via AD Camp Chowk, take a left toward Bharat Cinema, proceed to Padamjee Police Chowki, take a right toward Juna Motor Stand, and then continue to the desired destination. Vehicles travelling from Dhole Patil Chowk to Bhavani Mata Mandir via Ramoshi Gate Chowk should go via Bhagwan Bahubali Chowk to Juna Motor Stand. During this route, the one-way rule from Manikdas Maharaj Chowk to Bhagwan Bahubali Chowk will be relaxed until Navratri.

Additionally, those looking for Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses from Ramoshi Gate Chowk should note that these bus services will continue from Seven Loves Chowk, turning left toward Golibar Maidan Chowk, and then left toward Khane Maruti Mandir to avoid traffic congestion in Central Peths during the Navratri Utsav.

3) Tambdi Jogeshwari Mandir
Entry will be closed from Ganpati Chowk on Laxmi Road to Tambdi Jogeshwari Mandir. Except for emergency vehicles, traffic will be restricted from Sakal Press to Tambdi Jogeshwari Mandir. The alternate route for vehicles heading toward Tambdi Jogeshwari Mandir is to go straight from Ganpati Chowk on Laxmi Road, take a right at Seva Sadan Chowk, and proceed via Bajirao Road toward Appa Balwant Chowk. However, do not take a right; instead, continue to the desired destination via Shaniwar Wada Road.

Additionally, a no-parking zone has been established near Tambdi Jogeshwari Mandir, Ashtbhuja Durga Devi Mandir, and Ashtbhuja Devi Mandir for all vehicles.

4) Shri Chattushringi Devi Mandir
If traffic congestion occurs on Senapati Bapat (SB) Road due to devotees coming to Shri Chattushringi Devi Mandir, traffic from Patrakar Nagar Chowk to SB Road Junction will be diverted via Shivaji Cooperative Housing Society Chowk, and a one-way system will be implemented on the left side of SB Road. If traffic increases further, vehicles will not be allowed to proceed toward Shri Chattushringi Devi Mandir and will be redirected to Deep Bungalow Chowk from Vetal Baba Chowk. Additionally, vehicles from Shivaji Cooperative Housing Society Chowk will be sent via Om Supermarket.

Vehicles approaching SB Road from Cosmos Junction intending to reach Shri Chattushringi Devi Mandir should park at the Government Polytechnic Ground. To get there, they should take a left from Shivaji Cooperative Housing Society Chowk toward Late Sawant Chowk and then follow Firodiya Road to reach the ground.

Furthermore, vehicles coming from Veer Chaphekar Chowk to Shri Chattushringi Devi Mandir must take a left from Shri Suryamukhi Datta Mandir Chowk, proceed to Deep Bungalow Chowk via Thorat Chowk, and then head to Polytechnic Ground via Sanganna Dhotre Road or Khau Galli on Ganeshkhind Road.

On 4th October, from 5 AM to 7 AM, a Sri Suktam and Ganapati Atharvasirsha recitation program will be organized at Shri Mahalaxmi Mandir, Sarasbag. Consequently, the following traffic changes will be implemented:

1) Traffic coming from Jedhe Chowk will have their entry closed from the Statue of Jamnalal Bajaj to Veer Savarkar Chowk on Bajirao Road. These vehicles should proceed from the Statue of Jamnalal Bajaj toward Puram Chowk.
2) Vehicles coming from Mitra Mandal Chowk will not be allowed to go to Puram Chowk from Veer Savarkar Chowk. These vehicles will be diverted via the Sinhagad Road junction.
3) Vehicles coming from Sinhagad Road will not be allowed to proceed from Veer Savarkar Chowk to Puram Chowk. They should reach their desired destination via Mitra Mandal Chowk and Volga Chowk.

DCP Amol Zende has urged citizens and vehicle drivers to adhere to the traffic changes implemented and to utilize the designated alternate routes.
