Pune, 2nd October 2024: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is set to appoint ‘Shivneri Sundari’ to assist passengers on e-Shivneri buses operating on the Mumbai-Pune route. MSRTC Chairman Bharat Gogawale announced that an initiative will be launched in the near future to enhance service facilities for passengers without imposing any additional surcharges on ticket prices.

The announcement came during a board of directors meeting chaired by Bharat Gogawale, where more than 70 topics from various departments were discussed and approved. Among the key decisions was the approval to appoint a hostess to assist passengers on e-Shivneri buses along the Mumbai-Pune route.

In memory of the late Anand Dighe, a clinic named “Anand Arogya Kendra” will be established at 343 MSRTC stations, as conceived by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. This initiative aims to provide various health tests and medications under one roof at a very reasonable cost for passengers and local residents alike.

According to reports, a space of 400 to 500 square centimeters will be allocated at all MSRTC stations to start a health examination clinic, a pathology lab, and a drugstore to provide comprehensive health services.

New ST depots will be constructed in Mul in Chandrapur district and Dharni in Amravati district, both of which have a tribal majority, bringing the total number of ST depots to 253.

Furthermore, each ST depot will feature a 10×10 stall for women’s self-help groups in the area to sell their local produce on a rotational basis, charging only a nominal fee.

In addition to these initiatives, the meeting approved several other important matters, including the initiation of the tender process for the purchase of 2,500 new simple buses and the conversion of 100 diesel buses to electric buses on a pilot basis. The meeting was attended by Dr. Madhav Kusekar, Vice President and Managing Director of MSRTC, Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar, and all account heads of MSRTC.
