Pune: FIR Registered Against Imtiaz Jaleel for Hurting Religious Sentiment

Kondhwa, 2nd October 2024: A case has been registered against former MP Imtiaz Jaleel at the Kondhwa Police Station. Police Inspector (Crime) Mansingh Patil stated that this case pertains to allegations of creating a religious dispute. Mahesh Bhoibar (28) has filed the complaint.

During a rally, Sambhaji Maharaj was allegedly defamed and deliberately insulted. According to the complaint, Jaleel encouraged the crowd to deface the name Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on a board marking the ‘Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna’ highway.

Members of various Hindu organizations, asserting that Jaleel instigated the incident, gathered at the Kondhwa Police Station on Tuesday (1st October) to register their grievances. Consequently, the Kondhwa police registered the case late that night.

Vinay Patankar, Senior Police Inspector at the Kondhwa Police Station, remarked, “Respecting public sentiment, a case has been registered against Jaleel. The protesters claim that Sambhaji Maharaj’s photo was defaced on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna road. An investigation will be conducted accordingly.”
