Pune: One Dead, Two Injured as Blasting Work Stones Strike Workers in Talegaon Dabhade

Talegaon, 30th September 2024: A man died, and two others sustained severe injuries after being struck by falling stones. This incident occurred near Talegaon Dabhade, under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police in Pune District. Blasting work was being carried out on a nearby plot, causing stones from the blast to land in a nearby company, where they struck three people. The incident took place on Saturday, 28th September.

The deceased has been identified as Ajit Kumar Bhuchkun Saah (age 25). Ram Pravesh Ram Prasad and Rahul Ram Prasad were injured. Manu Swami Vardharaj Narayan Swami (age 52, a resident of Katavi) filed a complaint with the Talegaon MIDC Police Station.

A case has been registered against an unknown person in charge of carrying out the blasting work. Charges include BNS Sections 106 (1) (death by a rash or negligent act), 288 (negligent conduct concerning explosive substances), and 125(A)(B) (acts endangering the life or personal safety of others).

According to police reports, while the complainant and his labourers were working at the Cosmos Company premises in Mangrul village, blasting work was carried out without prior notice in the neighbouring plot owned by Arun Bhegde. The blast was conducted to demolish a large stone, and its fragments flew towards the workers. As a result, Ajit Saah lost his life, and two workers were seriously injured. Police Sub-Inspector Govarkar from Talegaon MIDC Police Station is investigating the matter further.
