Pune, 30th September 2024: With the Navaratri festival set to begin on Thursday (3rd October), a large crowd gathered on Sunday, 29th September, at the Khadakwasla Dam to wash clothes. Since it was the last Sunday before Navaratri, many people took the opportunity to clean bed covers, sheets, and other items in preparation for the festival. However, due to the release of water from the dam, people were seen washing clothes along the water’s edge.

The riverbed near Khadakwasla Dam, with its wide expanse of rocks, offers an ideal spot for thorough washing. Despite the release of around 4,000 cusecs of water from the dam, people continued to wash their clothes along a stretch of half a kilometer next to the water, creating a bustling scene from morning until evening.

The heavy turnout caused significant traffic congestion on Khadakwasla NDA Road, with a jam lasting from 11 am to 2 pm as citizens arrived in their vehicles. Some people even brought tiffins, turning the occasion into a full-day outing.
