Pune: Singer Rahul Deshpande Presents Awards to Rising Stars in Art and Culture

Pune, 29th September 2024: Young artists from various fields were felicitated by National Award-winning vocalist Rahul Deshpande at a special function held at Sri Balaji University, Pune (SBUP). The awards, presented by the School of Liberal Arts, marked the foundation year of the school and the silver jubilee year of SBUP.

The awards, in the form of a memento and a certificate, were given to young artists including Aalapini Nisal (Kathak), Karan Deogaonkar (Classical Vocal), and Mahima Thombre (Theatre). SBUP Chancellor B. Paramanandhan, Vice Chancellor Dr. Gangadhar Shirude, Principal of the School of Liberal Arts Dr. Preeti Joshi, and Dr. Manisha Shukla were also present at the event.

Dr. G. K. Shirude noted that these awards have been instituted to emphasize the importance of practicing an art form alongside academic studies. The event concluded with a performance by Rahul Deshpande at the SBUP campus.
