Pune, 29th September 2024: In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, Pune Airport today organized a large-scale plantation drive in front of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB). The event was led by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, and the Hon’ble Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Shri Murlidhar Mohol.

The drive, themed “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” was part of a nationwide initiative marking the 80th anniversary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The theme paid tribute to the nurturing spirit of mothers while promoting the importance of environmental conservation. Airports across India have joined the initiative, with 80,000 saplings being planted to commemorate ICAO’s milestone and to further sustainability efforts within the aviation sector.

The event saw active participation from key stakeholders, including officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), airlines, and other airport agencies. Pune Airport’s involvement in this initiative highlights its commitment to reducing the carbon footprint and fostering a greener environment in line with the broader goals of the aviation industry in India.
