Porsche Case: Juvenile’s Family Allegedly Drunk During Blood Sample Tampering, Grandfather a ‘Nautanki’, Says Pune Police Commissioner

Pune, 28th September 2024: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has revealed new details about the infamous Porsche hit-and-run case, which involved a 17-year-old accused of causing a fatal accident on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, resulting in the deaths of two software engineers. Commissioner Kumar discussed the case during the “Vibrant Pune” event organized by Punekar News at the Residency Club, Camp.
According to Commissioner Kumar, the family of the accused—his father, mother, and brother—arrived at Sassoon Hospital following the incident, all allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The family reportedly attempted to manipulate the evidence by bribing hospital staff to switch the juvenile’s blood sample with one of their own to falsify the alcohol test results. Both the father and brother were found to be intoxicated, and, instead of their samples, the hospital staff used the mother’s blood sample. She was later arrested for her involvement.
Eyewitnesses had claimed that the juvenile was so intoxicated he could barely walk, yet initial blood test reports indicated no traces of alcohol. Further investigation led to the arrest of two doctors, hospital staff members, and intermediaries for their role in tampering with the blood samples.
Additional charges, including destruction of evidence, forgery, and violations under the Prevention of Corruption Act, have been added to the case. A supplementary report, containing technical data about the car’s speed at the time of the crash and witness statements, was submitted to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).
Commissioner Kumar acknowledged that local police initially failed to follow proper procedures after the accident but assured the public that strict action had been taken against those responsible.
The fatal crash occurred when the minor lost control of a Porsche, crashing into a two-wheeler and killing 24-year-old software engineers Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. CCTV footage from earlier that night showed the accused and his friends celebrating their exam results at various city pubs, reportedly spending close to ₹50,000 on alcohol. The bar that served the group has had its license revoked, and the premises have been sealed.
The case has gained widespread attention due to allegations of preferential treatment given to the accused, who is the son of a prominent real estate tycoon.
