Pune, 26th September 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Pune Metro’s Civil Court to Swargate phase today, ahead of the enforcement of the election code of conduct for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra. Following the inauguration, PM Modi is scheduled to hold a public meeting at the SP College ground. However, heavy rainfall in Pune has raised concerns about whether the event will proceed as planned.

Pune witnessed heavy rainfall throughout Wednesday, leaving the SP College ground covered in mud. The persistent rains have also drenched the mandap erected for the event, complicating preparations. The path leading to the stage, as well as the open spaces of the venue, have become muddy, casting doubts over the feasibility of holding the meeting in such conditions. Although the rainfall eased on Thursday morning, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the region, predicting more rain in the afternoon.

Given the weather forecast, there is a possibility that the meeting venue may be shifted. Event organizers have been evaluating alternative locations since Wednesday, with the Ganesh Kala Krida Manch being considered as a backup option. The indoor venue has a larger seating capacity and could better accommodate attendees if rain continues. The final decision will depend on weather updates and further inspections of the SP College ground.

Efforts are underway to ensure that the meeting takes place as scheduled at the SP College ground, but the organizers remain cautious. They are closely monitoring weather conditions to decide the next steps.

Meanwhile, in anticipation of heavy rainfall, the district administration has declared a holiday for schools and colleges in Pune on Thursday. The city is expected to experience rain for the next three to four days.
