Pune, 25th September 2024: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised a red alert for Pune district on September 25, signaling a forecast of extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in certain areas.

This warning comes just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Pune on September 26 and 27, during which he is set to inaugurate the underground metro corridor connecting the District Court to Swargate. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stones for the metro extension towards Katraj.

Meteorological experts predict that the monsoon will persist in Maharashtra for several days to come, with the withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon not expected to commence before October. Officials indicate that the delay in the monsoon’s retreat from Central India may continue, maintaining the risk of persistent rainfall in the region.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during this period of adverse weather.
